Our story

The story behind Three Roots Coffee

Three Roots Coffee is a family-rooted business built on love, hard work and legacy. Inspired by family, myself and my daughter, our name represents the roots that connect us and the generations that came before us — and those still to come. Past, present and future.

Coffee has always been about bringing people together, and that's exactly what we want Three Roots Coffee to do. We're creating great coffee with a strong sense of family, community and purpose behind every cup.

Three Roots Coffee — rooted in family, made for connection.

Community

We started where we live — village greens, school sports days and local markets across Buckinghamshire. Turning up for the same people, weekend after weekend, is the whole point. If you're organising something local, you'll get a straight answer and a fair price.

Craft

Every drink is made to order on a commercial espresso machine by a trained barista — not poured from an urn. Freshly ground beans, properly textured milk, and a menu tight enough to keep the queue moving on a busy afternoon.

Care

The unit arrives clean, styled and ready — ivy canopy, warm bulbs and all. We're fully insured and run off our own generator, so we don't need anything from your venue. We set up early, work around your running order, and take our waste away with us. You shouldn't have to think about the coffee on the day.

Our story

A horsebox, a proper espresso machine, and a lot of early mornings

Three Roots Coffee was founded in 2026 around a simple idea: the coffee at events is usually an afterthought, and it doesn't have to be. So we took a classic horsebox trailer, fitted it out with reclaimed timber, warm bulbs and a commercial espresso setup, and started serving.

Good coffee, served by people who are genuinely pleased to see you.

These days you'll find us under the trees at a summer fête, tucked beside a marquee at a wedding reception, or lighting up the COFFEE sign at a Christmas market. Wherever we're parked, the aim is the same — a drink worth queueing for and a friendly face behind the hatch.

Where we work

One van, a lot of different days out

Whether it's 40 guests on a village green or a few hundred at a Christmas light trail, we'll size the service to suit the day.

Based in Buckinghamshire, happy to travel

We're a short drive from most of the county and regularly work across the surrounding areas. If you're a little further out, ask — we'll let you know honestly whether we can make it work.

How it works

Booking us takes about five minutes

No long forms, no chasing, and nothing for you to arrange. Here's exactly what happens from your first message to the last flat white of the day.

1

Tell us the date

Send us your date, location and rough guest numbers. A WhatsApp message is fine — it's usually the fastest way to reach us.

2

We check and confirm

We check the diary and confirm your date within 24 hours, along with the timings and the drinks you'd like on the menu.

3

Lock in the details

Once you're happy, we agree arrival time, pitch location and menu, and your date is booked in.

4

We turn up and serve

We arrive early, set up, serve your guests, then pack down and take our waste away. You get on with your day.

Venues and organisers usually ask for the same few things before they confirm. Here they all are — and we'll send the paperwork over the moment you ask.

Food Standards Agency food hygiene rating: 5 — Very Good

Top food hygiene rating

Rated 5 — Very Good by our local authority under the Food Standards Agency's Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, which is the highest rating available. Tap the badge to check it yourself on the FSA's public register.

Fully insured

Public liability cover is in place for every booking. Most venues ask to see the certificate before the day — just say the word and we'll email it straight over.

Fully self-powered

We run off our own generator, so we don't need a power supply from you or your venue. That makes us straightforward to place in a field, a marquee or a car park.

Trained baristas

Every drink is made by a trained barista who's food-safety trained too, working to written cleaning and temperature records at every event.

Our food hygiene rating is published by the Food Standards Agency and can be verified on the public register at ratings.food.gov.uk. Ratings reflect the standards found at the time of inspection.

Good to know

Questions we get asked most

Where do you travel to?
We're based in Buckinghamshire and cover the county along with nearby parts of Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire and West London. If you're further afield, get in touch anyway — depending on the date and the length of service, we can often still make it work.
What do you need from us on the day?
Very little. A firm, reasonably level pitch for the trailer with towing access to get it in and out — that's it. We run off our own generator, so we don't need power from you or your venue. We'll confirm the exact footprint with you when we confirm your date, so there are no surprises when we arrive.
How many drinks can you serve an hour?
It depends on your menu and how many baristas we bring. As a rule of thumb, a single barista on a tight menu keeps a steady queue moving comfortably; for big arrival peaks — a wedding reception or a sports day finish — we'd recommend a second pair of hands. Tell us your guest numbers and timings and we'll advise honestly on what you need.
Can guests pay, or do we cover the drinks?
Either works. For weddings and corporate events, most hosts prepay so drinks are free at the point of service. For public events like fêtes and markets, we serve on the day and take cash, card and contactless.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Oat, coconut and other dairy-free milks are on board all year round, and decaf is available on any drink, every time. Let us know about specific allergies or requirements in advance and we'll come prepared.
Can you brand the cups or create a signature drink?
Yes — branded cups, custom menu boards and a signature drink named for the couple or the company all work brilliantly. These need a bit of lead time, so just mention it early and we'll get it sorted for you.
Are you insured, and what's your food hygiene rating?
Three Roots Coffee is fully insured and holds a 5 out of 5 food hygiene rating — the highest available — awarded by our local authority under the Food Standards Agency scheme. You can verify it on the public register at ratings.food.gov.uk. Venues and event organisers often ask for both before confirming a booking, so just let us know and we'll send the documents straight over.
What happens if it rains?
We serve from a covered hatch, so British weather rarely stops us. For very exposed sites it's worth thinking about where your guests will stand while they wait — we're happy to advise on the best spot to pitch.
How quickly will you get back to me?
Within 24 hours. We check the diary daily, so you will not be left waiting — even if the answer is that we are already booked that day.
How far in advance should we book?
Summer weekends, wedding season and the run-up to Christmas book up first, so earlier is better. That said, we do get last-minute availability — if your date is close, ask rather than assume.
